CYCLIC ACCESSORY MODULAR MOUNTING SYSTEM
(CAMMS)
What is (CAMMS)
The Cyclic Accessory Modular Mounting System or CAMMS, is a group of accessory mounts designed to work around a single universal bracket, that safely and securely attaches to the R22 and R44 cyclic crossbar system. The bracket and accessories designed for CAMMS are covered by a patent for the several innovative features it incorporates.
The top figure on the right shows that this is a very small, non-intrusive and light bracket that would go otherwise unnoticed, even in the tiny and crammed R22 cockpit. Yet, it is strong enough and stable enough to be able to hold up to 2 lbs of weight. With an allowable weight of 6oz for the cyclic bar from the R22/R44 manual that should never be exceeded, this accessory device fulfills every possible legal-weight attachment.
Safe for the Crossbar
As students and instructors seem to constantly find their own ways to mount maps, timers, approach plates and any other auxiliary device on the cyclic cross-bar, some do so safely for the cross-bar, but most end up damaging it, leading to the need for a repaint every so often. The CAMMS bracket was specifically designed for that exact diameter and therefore it requires minimal pressure to engage, and very slight pressure to secure, making it completely safe for the helicopter.

Safety for the Pilot
In fact, the only problem this device might have is its own strength. Since this little bracket can hold up to 2 lbs, we urge pilots to never exceed the cyclic crossbar attachment weight limit of 6 oz with accessories. The system is designed to mount small timers, cellphones and small notepads in order to enhance flight safety and situational awareness in the cockpit.

We hope it makes your flight more organized, enjoyable and ultimately safe.
The (CAMMS) assembly is so small, one could think that the accessory is directly attached to the Cross-Bar
The BoxElder Bracket is the central component of CAMMS and is precisely engineered to fit the Robinson cyclic cross-bar. It is therefore effortless to click it on, but extremely tight even with minimal tightening of the thumb nut.
Interchangeability WITH Stability
Modularity comes with its own challenges, and not getting it right can lead to problems.

Having a modular system in a vibrating environment and the critical conditions of flying, means that one needs to consider the easy interchangeability of modules (or accessories), without sacrificing the stability of the system. Make the parts easy to change and the system comes easily apart. Make it more stable, and you can not change one part for the other.

The CAMMS assembly is a high end solution, for a high end application. In order to avoid sacrificing either of the two requirements, the bracket is built using aircraft windshield grade, UV resistant Polycarbonate material that allows the snap clips to be unusually thick, short and extremely tight, without breaking. This provides Excellent stability, with any accessory while providing easy removal from the bracket with a simple twist.
The entire system was developed and built by BoxElder Helicopter Systems. It is a live project which keeps growing with every suggestion, request or critique we get from our customers. We welcome ALL input and we ask for it. Contact us and let us know what you see, what you need and what you would like to have made differently and we will listen. This company was built by pilots, and it is here to serve them in the best possible way.
